As a teenager Bill Sands, a frequent guest on a T.V. show that I often watched, made a huge impression on me. He grew up in a home where his parents gave him little attention, except to use him as a pawn in their bitter divorce. Feeling lonely, unloved and unwanted he turned to a life of crime.  In prison a warden , who took an interest and invested time in him, enabled Bill to turn his life around. After getting out, he in turn , did the same for others. He started the "Seventh Step Foundation"- the original "scared straight" program. Hearing him speak and reading his book"My Shadow Ran Fast" helped me identify feelings I had and made be wish I had someone to talk to.  Also, as a result of seeing the impact one person could make on another, two desires were put on my young heart-to work in a prison myself and at an orphanage.  Upon becoming a Christian in college God fulfilled those desires through various mission trips and an organization I worked with.  One man changed Bills life, and he changed mine and countless others and all of us have been able to pass it on.Now I am a volunteer and a lunch buddy at Montclair-won't you consider doing the same. It's only 1/2 hour and you don't need any particular skills-just be available and have a willing heart(be careful,though,they WILL steal it!).
